SO recently delivered a cohesive communication strategy and charity marketing suite for Shaping the World – successfully launched by HRH The Princess Royal, Appeal Patron at the ICE headquarters in Westminster.

A global initiative

Shaping the World aims to drive the next generation of civil engineering talent and develop impactful, life-changing programmes around the world. Working in partnership with others, it will address challenges that will shape our everyday lives over the coming decades – from providing clean water and sanitation to developing cleaner sources of energy and crafting iconic structures that will enhance our lives in the future.

The brand we created proved a powerful backdrop as Her Royal Highness and many distinguished guests listened to presentations from the ICE President and the Shaping the World Appeal Chairman, before speaking herself about the importance of the initiative.

“The client brief was extremely open,” said Jo Stedman, Creative Director, “the ICE knew essentially what they had to communicate but didn’t know how.” SO started with a branding exercise resulting in a structured, dynamic logo design – “The core of the icon represents the ICE, with radiating lines reflecting the global reach of the initiative; a simple, yet carefully considered concept designed specifically with a multitude of applications in mind”.

Following the initial branding exercise, SO went on to develop all print and digital marketing aspects for Shaping the World including a custom website design, various printed campaign showcase formats plus a bespoke iPad App. They were also instrumental in bringing together external specialists to deliver animated architectural visualisations and a short film.
