Luxury invitation design for extraordinary Indian jewellery exhibition at the V&A

More than 100 objects owned by Sheikh Hamad Bin Abdullah Al Thani, a member of the Qatari royal family, are currently on display at the V&A. We were delighted with our latest commission to create the luxury event invitation and save the date for an exclusive preview event to mark the launch of an exhibition which explores 400 years of Indian jewellery.

Having designed the save the date and event invitation for the same collection at New York’s MET Museum in 2014, we knew the standard of design and execution expected of us. The brief we received was once again very open, (just how we like it!) and His Highness’s request to feature just one an exquisite antiquity and make it ‘jump’ off the page was a request we chose to take very literally. Housed within a beautifully hand crafted box, the invitation features the piece printed as a hologram / lenticular – not something that can be replicated on screen but trust us when we say it was a gamble that paid off.

There was no expense spared for the preceding save the date either. Designed as a teaser to the full invitation, the save the date featured the Persian inscription extracted from the emperor Jahangir’s wine cup and presented as a graphic representation laser etched onto a traditional cream textured board. Presented within bespoke handmade envelopes and gilt edged, these save the dates leave the recipient in no doubt that this is an event not to be missed.
